DISASTER TRAINING SCHEDULE

Pre-registration is required for all classes.  Either call the office at 530-244-8000; come into the office or e-mail us at:  disasterservices@shastaredcross.org ; or complete the on-line form at the bottom to request that your name be added to the schedule. Classes may be cancelled and rescheduled if there are inadequate numbers of students. If you must miss a class, please let us know as soon as possible. If we have a on-going disaster in this area, classes may be deferred, however, if the class is for a needed skill we may be offering the class on an expediency basis, so make sure you call.

Three Rivers Chapter

We are welcome to take classes being offered by the Three Rivers Chapter.  Click on the link to go to their website and call the chapter to pre-register.  Make sure you bring your certificate or card of completion into the office so we can get it entered into your DSHR record.

Learning Management System link

The American Red Cross Learning Management System offers all of the disaster services on-line classes necessary to complete as prerequisites for classes offered in the classroom as well as other classes including CPR. It is password protected, therefore, before taking any of the LMS classes you must complete the Fulfilling Our Mission class, enroll as a Disaster Services Volunteer and contact the office to assign a LMS password.

National Incident Management System (NIMS) link

 This system provides a systematic, proactive approach to guide departments and agencies at all levels of government, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector to work seamlessly to prevent, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the effects of incidents, regardless of cause, size, location, or complexity, in order to reduce the loss of life and property and harm to the environment.The Red Cross strongly recommends that Red Cross workers take the on-line NIMS classes in order to effectively work with our government partners on disasters. Many states are now requiring NIMS classes in order to participate in any disaster centers within their states.
